COTTON

May be prone to shrinking when washed and dried. To stop this happening wash in cold (30 degree or below) water

Give garments a gentle stretch when they come out of the wash to get them back into shape

Always air dry, dry clothes flat and out of the sun if possible.

Best to iron cotton items with the steam setting on your iron.

LINEN

Wash linen on low temperatures in lukewarm or cold water

Use the gentle machine cycle and a mild detergent to protect the fibres

Do not dry clean linen as it can weaken the fibres

Air dry or tumble dry on a delicate setting and remove from dryer immediately to avoid ironing and preserve soft handfeel

Linen becomes softer and more absorbent after each wash

SILK

Silk is a delicate natural fibre and should be treated delicately

Silk is best washed by hand in cool water

Rinse well, squeeze out extra moisture by rolling in a towel and hang to dry

Do not tumble dry as heat can cause the silk to shrink and dull the fabric

Silk is a protein that’s a lot like hair, so treat it with mild and delicate detergent

KNITWEAR

Garments should be warm hand washed inside out in mild detergent

Do not bleach, soak, rub or twist

Reshape garment while wet and dry flat in shade

Do not tumble dry

Cool iron with a press cloth if necessary

Drycleanable

Prolong the life of your knitwear by storing folded – this will also maintain shape

Slight pilling and/or shedding are inherent quality of even the highest quality yarns. This should not be considered a flaw and can easily be managed by using a wool comb or an electric fabric shaver.

VISCOSE

Hand wash in cool water

Viscose can lose its shape when wet so drying is best by hanging up the garment straight after wash

Do not tumble dry, it will cause shrinkage

You may notice your Viscose garments appear to ‘shrink’ and ‘stiffen’ after laundering. To resume to the original size and shape and feel, give your garments a warm steamy press.

POLYESTER

Gentle machine or handwash in warm water and use fabric softener to reduce static electricity

Turn garments inside out before washing to prevent snags and use a microfiber bag to prevent fibres from entering the waste water

Cool iron on a moderate setting

Can be safely dry-cleaned
